From chaos to secure AI adoption: a dialogue on security and practice

In a comprehensive dialogue between our CEO David Wallén and renowned security expert Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder, we tackled one of the most pressing questions in AI today: How do we balance innovation with security? How do we move from ad hoc usage to professional, traceable, and secure AI integration?

The reality behind the theory

The conversation between David and Anne-Marie addressed what happens when well-intentioned efficiency becomes a security risk. Without clear policies and secure alternatives, sensitive information ends up in public tools, decisions are made on uncertain grounds, and organizations lack traceability of who did what and why.

This is rarely the fault of employees; the tools are so useful that shortcuts feel rational when leadership doesn't show the way forward.

Swedish municipalities leading the way

To complement this theoretical discussion, we also spoke with three Swedish municipalities that have already taken the step toward secure AI usage with Intric:

Borås: Flexibility and local adaptation

Fredrik Nilströmer from Borås Municipality speaks about the importance of not being locked into a specific language model. Through Intric, they can use European and even Swedish language models, while building specialized assistants for everything from meeting transcription to plain language writing and water sample analysis.

Katrineholm: Security and user-friendliness

For Andreas Peterzén in Katrineholm, choosing Intric came down to two words: safety and simplicity. They needed a platform that met their high security requirements while being extremely user-friendly for both staff and citizens.

Mönsterås: Automated knowledge management

Torbjörn Andersson from Mönsterås Municipality shows how quickly AI can be implemented when the right conditions are in place. From launching an external AI assistant in spring 2024 to an automated internal assistant "AIDA" that is updated daily with all information from their SharePoint-based intranet.

From chaos to order

The current state of AI usage in many organizations can be described as "the Wild West," as Anne-Marie put it, referencing a Deloitte study which revealed that over half (52 percent) of Swedes who use GenAI at work report using free, publicly available GenAI tools; that is, without regulation or policies.

As Anne-Marie emphasizes in the dialogue: smart guidelines, a secure and EU-anchored way of working with AI, and continuous education create order. When policy, platform, and practice align, the risk of misuse, leaks, and compliance issues decreases; and benefits can scale without compromising security.

This is how we move from the "Wild West" to professional, traceable, and secure AI usage.

Watch the videos

We have gathered these important perspectives in three videos that you can watch below or on our YouTube channel:

  1. The English dialogue
  2. The Swedish dialogue
  3. Municipal voices

The English dialogue

David Wallén and Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder discuss security, policy, and practical AI usage.

The Swedish dialogue

David Wallén and Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder discuss security, policy, and practical AI usage.

Municipal voices

Borås, Katrineholm, and Mönsterås share their experiences of secure AI implementation.

These conversations show that it's possible to get the best of both worlds: powerful AI that truly improves work, without compromising on security or control.
